Reviews and Advice

Hello all, and I hope your summers have been relaxing--whether that comes to you through action or inaction!

I would like to draw your attention please to two aspects of the site I'm shamelessly promoting--DnDOnlineGames.com. I'm hoping we deserve consideration in the Amber Quill and Golden Wyrm categories. Ambitious, I know, but I hope to show we're worth at the very least a good look...!

First, the Golden Wyrm. We are a play by post community with some 20 active moderators. We emphasize a quality roleplaying experience, and some of our campaigns have been running for many years. Our graphic design is deliberately sparse so as to keep the focus on the text. Filters eliminate profanity and slang. Members who roleplay well are visibly rewarded by other community members. To introduce you to this aspect of our site, I would like to direct you to our Hall of Fame games, here http://www.dndonlinegames.com/forumdisplay.php?f=4689. These are nominated by the community and then voted upon. They represent some of our longest running and best gaming experiences--out of the thousands of active and retired games on the site.

For the Amber Quill, please take a look at our Library section, found here: http://www.dndonlinegames.com/forumdisplay.php?f=2435. Our members submit short fiction, creative writing, poetry and more, for others to appreciate and comment on. This forum is moderated by Amber Scott, a published 3.5e rulebooks author.

Thank you very much for looking us over. We do have a tremndous amount to offer, and our members have been wanting to see us more visibly represented. I am sincerely interested in any and all reasoned comments and suggestions!

Warm regards,
Admin ridin

If it was considered and reviewed, what was the outcome? If not then is it in the queue for consideration

I am not an editor for GW or AQ, however for what it is worth, here is my personal feedback.

1) Impressive size, and obviously active.

2) The blue is a very businesslike choice. I do not find it really annoying, but it is somewhat cold if you are posting to it all night. I don't know.. it could be more.. sumptuous?

3) A pity the adverts are necessary.

4) Jeezubs.. enormous amount of forums. May I suggest you close those forums currently not in use? Having said that, most of them obviously are. Traffic is good and it shows a nice lively community.

5) Liked the feature of the away message. Features are tailored to the gaming needs of the community.

6) The fonts in some parts of the site is extremely small forcing me to squint. Especially the links under Last Post.

7) I would recommend removing all accounts that have never been used and those that are inactive for longer than x period. It gives you a better grip on the true size of your community, which is big enough without needing inflated numbers. I saw between 100 to 84 registered users online while browsing and that was not during an US evening.

8) I couldn't find an "About us page" (history of the site and its owners, though the staff profiles were cute) or a Terms or Service.

All in all a very nice site with an impressive community, though very focused on getting the games up and running instead of style. I couldn't really judge the gaming content as the site is really not one game but tons of games.
